The students in C4 have been thinking of ways that they can support those in Christchurch who are needing our help due to the horrific earthquake that rocked our nation on the 22nd February at 12.51pm.
Here is some of the thoughts that C4 students have been talking about on their Wikispace about this.
"Make them a 'thinking of you' card with little gift tokens and find out where to send it. Collect supplies that could help them like can fruit, water bottles, maybe a toy in case they lost theirs in the earthquake, medical supplies, clothing that are too small for you, little blankets just in case they get cold. Maybe a pack of cards or board games for entertainment. Hair material like shampoo and conditioner or body supplies like soap, maybe give them something to read or draw with? maybe send a photo of a celebrity that you think is important like Katy Perry or Selena Gomez maybe. And maybe little certificates saying 'Be strong' or 'You are like a hero to me' because you survived something deadly."
"Yes I agree. but I think that why do people help now when an event happens like the earthquake but they don't help when the poor people are on the street." You can tell that they have been thinking.
We have decided to do a MATHETHON, which is a 2 minute maths challenge using the web site www.studyladder.co.nz.
Your child will bring home a letter setting out how this will work along with a sponsorship form. We ask that you support your child as they realise that they can make a difference for other less fortunate and give where you can.
A copy of the letter and the sponsorship form is included on this page.
